Trials

Have been to see my oncologist today and he is recommending for me to go forward to see if I am suitable for any trials being offered at the moment. It will mean travelling further, but if there is something out their which will help I am not bothered where I travel to. Since my previous blog I have had a Plurx drain fitted for my ascites, this alone makes life easier, not having to go back and forth for the proceedure. Just thought I would give you an update as last time I blogged I was really down. Am now trying to stay very positive. Luv Jeanx

Hi Jean,
Lovely to hear from you and especially pleased you feel more in the driving seat. The SAPPROC trial is currently running if you have not had weekly taxol before, but you would need to check the other qualifying factors.
I am still bloating. I was drained last Monday which gave me some relief but my caeylx has not kicked in yet (if it is going to) and I suspect by the end of next week I shall be miserably bloated again, it is building up again.I am not sure they would put a Plurx drain in whilst I am on chemo due to risk of infection.

Hi Lizzie, Not sure what is on offer but will have a look at the SAPPROC trial. Have long have you been on the trial, how are you finding it. The other alterative treatment that was offered to me was Letrozole hormone tablets but decided to give the trials a go first, providing of course that I fit into the criteria. Hope you have feeling OK. Luv Jean

Hi Jean,

I am not on the SAPPROC trial myself, but Carrie is who has commented recently in the below URL.

I am actually taking caeylx at the moment. I have had dose #1, which I don't think has done anything for me (they warned even if it is going to which is not certain - it would be after the second dose it would kick in).

I would recommend you talk to ovacome about trials if you need assistance. Also there is also a recent question about 'have we come to the end of the road after carboplatin and taxol' on this site in which we discuss some of the other chemos.

Take care Jean, I am routing for you.

Sorry Lizzie got my wires crossed. I had Caelyx and it takes till you are on your second to kick in. I had quite a good response to this so will keep my fingers crossed for you. I will certainly talk to ovacome about the trials. Take care. Jean x
